"Practical Training for Emerging Leaders in Evaluation, Learning and Strategy"
The next module in Itad's Team Leader Development Programme is Impact Champion. This module is designed to help participants strengthen and develop their leadership skills, with a particular focus on independent consultants and professionals transitioning into team leadership roles, as well as experienced team leaders seeking targeted skills development.
The module uses case studies to explore real-world challenges and practical leadership scenarios. The Impact Champion module is priced at £450 + VAT and includes two three-hour online practical sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experienced team leaders, client representatives, and members of Itad's Operations Team, providing a comprehensive 360-degree perspective on the team leader role.
In addition to the practical sessions, each cohort will be invited to attend a group coaching session. This will provide an opportunity to reflect on how participants have applied their learning in practice and to consider next steps in their leadership development.
Facilitated by Chris Perry, Itad Principal Consultant, participants in the Impact Champion module will:
- Build strong foundations for successful client relationships from the outset by developing a practical understanding of different types of MEL clients, the organisational and political contexts they operate within, and the pressures, incentives and trade-offs that shape their decisions. Participants will practise using client profiling and stakeholder mapping tools to identify key decision-makers, influencers and potential blockers, and to establish clear ways of working, shared expectations and trust-building behaviours from day one.
- Lead client engagement effectively during delivery by communicating clearly, managing expectations proactively and working collaboratively with clients and internal teams. Participants will explore how to maintain credibility, build productive working relationships and influence stakeholders without formal authority, including by tailoring engagement approaches to different client roles, organisational cultures and levels of interest or influence.
- Maintain trusted advisor status throughout and beyond project delivery by recognising when trust may come under pressure and responding constructively to challenges, tensions or difficult conversations. Participants will practise approaches for navigating sensitive issues, involving senior colleagues appropriately, delivering difficult findings respectfully, and closing projects in a way that captures learning, protects relationships and keeps the door open for future collaboration.
To ensure participants can build their networks and receive meaningful support, the modules have limited spaces:
